The northern lights painted the sky with stories we hadn’t heard of yet. We leaned back, letting the colors wash over us and paint new dreams for us to follow. — Robyn Petrik”

One of the places that I always wanted to visit is Aurora Borealis or Northern lights. Northern lights is a natural display of Earth’s atmosphere, mostly seen in high altitude regions. The lights are a phenomenon caused by the collision between gaseous particles in the atmosphere.

Amazing feeling: Watching northern lights can give you a moment to reflect and sit there to wonder how beautiful Earth is.

Watching the mix of colors/Dancing lights: Do you get excited about seeing a rainbow? Then this is a must-watch for you as would so many colors right before your eye -red, green, and other colors depending on that day.

A unique experience: Aurora won’t be the same for everyone and every day — it would be different for you on the day of your visit.

Best Time: It is said that you can get a good view of the phenomenon from late August to mid-April.

Best Places: Iceland, Alaska, Norway, Scotland, Canada

Trivia:

  • Do note that it is not guaranteed that you would see Northern lights if you are in that location in the best month as it depends on that day’s weather and the sunlight.
  • It doesn’t need to be cold to see the lights,
  • Do check out the Aurora forecast/Kp-Index( geomagnetic storm strength) to know the chances of sighting for that day.

Outside, though perhaps morning, it is still night, but a night of a thousand thrusting colors laid over the shaking stars. The shattering ice still sounds like a drumbeat- Dan Simmons.”
